Five Easy Steps to Organize a Food Drive
Step 1: Schedule the food drive and delivery date
It’s important to schedule your food drive on our calendar so we can ensure a steady supply of food for the Food Pantry. Our goal is to schedule food drives each month throughout the year to keep our pantry shelves full.
The delivery date is important, too. Depending on the amount of food collected, we may need to schedule extra volunteers to help unload and process the food.
Step 2: Publicize the food drive and use the resources in our Food Drive Tool Kit
Step 3: Collect non-perishable food and personal care items
Monetary donations are important, too. As an Agency Partner with Capital Area Food Bank, HCCM can acquire food items from CAFB for 15 cents a pound. If your group would like to collect food and funds, that will increase our ability to assist families in need.
Step 4: Count, Sort, and Fill Out Form
Count and sort the collected food items, and fill out a Food Delivery Form.
Tip: If available, copy paper boxes are the ideal size to hold and transport food.
Step 5: Deliver Food to HCCM Food Pantry
Don’t forget to schedule a delivery date and time to deliver your collected food to HCCM and bring your completed Food Delivery Form.
